Dhamma Blue, the hydrogen-powered boat that stole the spotlight in Venice

Cutting-edge technology, silent navigation, and zero emissions

The Spanish vessel sets a milestone at the Venice Boat Show 2025 and will soon participate in the Green Gas Mobility Summit and the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.

MADRID, June 4, 2025 – At an event that brought together more than 30,000 visitors, 300 boats, and 270 exhibitors, Dhamma Blue was the only hydrogen-powered vessel present at the Salone Nautico di Venezia 2025, establishing itself as a true benchmark for technological innovation and sustainability in the nautical sector.

The first Spanish hydrogen-powered boat, measuring 7.90 meters in length, is equipped with a 135 kW electric motor, 63 kWh lithium batteries, and a fuel cell powered by green hydrogen. This setup offers a range of up to 65 nautical miles at 12 knots, tripling the usual capacity of conventional electric boats.

Its entirely silent and emission-free navigation is essential for the conservation of delicate ecosystems such as the Venetian lagoon, where environmental protection is crucial.

Dhamma Blue is not just a boat. It’s a manifesto,” say its co-founders, Philippe Esposito, a pioneer in renewable hydrogen production, and Robin Imaz, naval engineer and project designer. “Our goal is to lead real decarbonization in the nautical world, demonstrating that marine mobility can be scalable, efficient, and environmentally respectful,” they add.

As part of the E-Regatta, the official event dedicated to electric mobility on water organized by Assonautica, the Italian association of nautical industry professionals, Dhamma Blue sailed along the Grand Canal alongside other innovative boats such as the Frauscher 850 Fantom Air, developed with Porsche, and the Swedish X-Shore, standing out as a step beyond traditional electrification towards models of scalable, silent, and zero-emission marine mobility. It also positioned hydrogen as a viable and revolutionary alternative to traditional electric technologies.

Aesthetically, Dhamma Blue features a clean design with retro touches, an asymmetrical dual sundeck, rotating seats, and a cabin for day cruising with overnight capability. All onboard technology is managed through an integrated touchscreen console that monitors both navigation and the hybrid energy system.

Following its appearance in Venice, Dhamma Blue will be present at two key international events:

– The Green Gas Mobility Summit, a leading forum on hydrogen technologies and clean mobility, to be held on June 25–26 in Madrid.
– The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, featuring the most advanced alternative propulsion projects in the nautical sector, taking place July 2–5 at the Monaco Yacht Club.

With Dhamma Blue, sailing leaves behind outdated paradigms and opens the way for a silent, green, and technologically advanced revolution—both for recreational and professional boating.
